In an effort to create more dialogue, I offer up this link for all of you to ponder about. Originally posted on Reddit, the question of "what SHOULD be in the US History textbook that really isn't" offers up many events and concepts. Most seem to want to portray a negative light on American history (i.e. Howard Zinn). But this sentiment is well warranted, as most of American history has been "white washed" to create a sense of monolithic growth and progress steadily throughout the years. This is definitely the case with international relations, as our track record abroad has been less than favorable.
But enough about what the Professor thinks, what do YOU think? Comment below and lets get a discussion going!
