Jan 27, 1825 Congress approves Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma), clearing the way for forced relocation of the Eastern Indians on the "Trail of Tears." Jan 28, 1986 The space shuttle Challenger explodes just after liftoff. Jan 29, 1813 Jane Austin publishes Pride and Prejudice. Jan 30, 1933 Adolf Hitler is named Chancellor by President Paul Hindenburg. Jan 31, 1606 Guy Fawkes is hanged, drawn and quartered for his part in the Gunpowder Plot, an attempt to blow up Parliament. Feb 01, 1951 Third A-bomb tests are completed in the desert of Nevada.
